Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing Val’s Pooch Parlour.
Please take a moment to read the Terms and Conditions that support running a pawfect parlour.
-
Cancelled appointments. 24hours notice is appreciated, if you need to cancel your appointment. Failure to turn up without prior notification results in a small charge of £8 per pet to cover staff costs.
-
Payment. Full payment for services are agreed at the time of booking.
-
Wee Wee’s Please! Please ensure your pet has had an adequate chance to relieve itself before you come to the parlour.
-
Appointments. Please stick to the appointment time specified upon booking. Your appointment slot includes time allocated for a pre-treatment consultation, so that there is no need to arrive early to book in. We reserve the right to turn away owners that are over 15 minutes late for their appointment unless communicated and agreed upon. You will be given a collection time when you leave your pooch at the parlour. If you happen to be a few minutes early to collect, your dog may still be on the grooming table being attended to, please remain unnoticed whilst you wait. If your dog sees you, they will naturally start to get excited. Your groomer may have to consider the treatment finished, for safety reasons. Val works extremely hard, and cares for every dog as if they were her own. Any abusive language or behaviour towards Val or other visitors to the parlour will not be tolerated.
-
Matted Coats. There is a non de-matting policy, in compliance with Animal Welfare Act (2007) section 5 which states that 'All animals are to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease'. Attempting to brush out heavy matting would lead to a great deal of discomfort for a pet. Instead you will be contact to advise clipping to remove the matted and damaged coat. Where dogs are heavily matted, an additional charge of up to £15 to remove the coat may apply.
-
Flea Policy. In the pre-treatment consultation your dog will be checked for fleas, you will be advised you if your dog needs to be treated. If a dog is found to have fleas, then a flea-bath can be arranged for the end of a day so the parlour can be treated to prevent cross contamination. An additional charge of up to £6 may apply. You will be advised to treat your dog and your home environment to eradicate the problem.
-
Sedated dogs. We do not accept dogs that are under sedation for grooming under any circumstances.
-
Pregnant dogs. Whilst every care is taken with every furry friend, females that are pregnant are accepted for grooming at the owner's risk.
-
Challenging behaviour. Some dogs may require a longer appointment time or a split appointment, due to excessively nervous or challenging behaviour. We will advise the owner of any alteration in charges before we begin.
-
Aggressive dogs. While Val has a great deal of experience and success in the grooming of difficult dogs, she reserves the right to halt the treatment process should a dog become aggressive to the point of being a danger to staff, themselves or another dog. Full or part of the treatment charge may apply as we cannot fill that appointment time. Val reserves the right to muzzle your dog or ask you to muzzle your own dog if it represents a danger to her or other dogs in the parlour.
-
Insurance. Although Val’s Pooch Parlour holds Public Liability insurance, wherever possible dogs should be insured by the owner. She reserves the right to refuse a booking for any animal which is not insured. She will always ensure to make every effort to look after your dog to the best of our abilities. With this, she cannot be held liable for any loss, injury or death to a pet either inside or outside of the home whilst in our care.
-
Pre-existing conditions. Val may uncover evidence of a health issue while grooming your dog and will always advise you of any further recommended actions i.e. visit to the vet , dietary requirements etc.
-
Grooming. Val grooms to the owner's specifications, as far as the dog will tolerate and the coat condition and type allows. She will always place a dogs welfare, safety and peace of mind above adherence to a particular style. In the case of being unable to groom to the exact style wished by the owner, she will contact the owner and agree upon a suitable alternative style. Please provide an emergency contact number of someone capable of making a decision relating to the dog in an emergency.
-
Your dog will be groomed to your specifications, which will be discussed in the pre-treatment consultation. If you are sending your dog in with a friend or family member, please send written instructions or a quick call to confirm your requirement. This eliminates any confusion which can occur with 'second hand' instructions. If you book your appointments online, you can leave your instructions in the message box available, in as much detail as you wish. Val always reads through a pets appointment notes prior to the treatment.
-
Photographs. Val takes photos of each dog before during and after the treatments, which we keep on file to assist us in future treatments. We may use some photos in advertising our service and/or post to our social media sites. Most clients enjoy seeing their dog featured. Please let us know beforehand if you do not wish your pet's photos to be made public.
-
Records. Please provide a thorough account of any health issues, allergies or behavioural challenges concerning your dog. These notes are very valuable to giving a clear picture of the background before we begin the treatment.
-
Alterations. If, after the groom is complete, there is anything about the groom that you would like altered, please advise Val accordingly before you leave the parlour. She won't be offended by timely requests to make minor changes, so please ask.
-
If you are unsure which tools and/or products to use to groom your dog with between appointments please ask, Val is happy to help and advise you.
By using Val’s Pooch Parlour you agree to all these terms and conditions.
